2008

The Chrysler Group today announced pricing for the all-new 2008 Jeep Liberty. Completely redesigned from the ground up, the mid-size SUV features classic Jeep exterior styling paired with a functional interior, increased cargo length and rear seat legroom, and the industry-exclusive Sky Slider™ full-length, open-canvas roof.

The base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the all-new Jeep Liberty is $20,990, including $660 destination. Two models are available: Jeep Liberty Sport and Jeep Liberty Limited. The Jeep Liberty will begin to arrive in dealerships later this summer.

The dramatically designed new 2008 Cadillac CTS will launch in late-August with a higher level of technology, luxury and performance. With many new standard features and a long list of new options, the all-new 2008 CTS, Cadillac's most affordable product, also delivers compelling value.

"Cadillac's recent renaissance and the breakout success of the original CTS provided a springboard for our team to reach higher with the all-new 2008 CTS," said Jim Taylor, Cadillac General Manager. "The result is a car we feel is more desirable in every way, including the value it offers to luxury sport sedan buyers."

The 2008 CTS launches in the U.S. in late-August at a base MSRP of $32,990, including $745 Dealer Freight Charge. (The 2007 CTS with the 3.6-liter V6 engine carried a base MSRP of $33,530, $540 more than the new 08 model with the same engine.)

The all-new 2008 CTS includes the following standard features that represent significant upgrades from the prior model, including:

  • 263-hp, 3.6-liter engine (previously 258-hp, and optional)
  • All-new redesigned cabin with handcrafted accents (previously unavailable)
  • 17-inch wheels and tires (previously optional)
  • BOSE 8-speaker sound system (previously optional)
  • The acclaimed Stabilitrak stability enhancement system (previously optional)
  • Tire pressure monitoring (previously optional)
  • Underhood strut tower brace for improved structural rigidity (previously unavailable)
  • Polished aluminum exhaust tips (previously unavailable.)
The new 2008 Honda Accord sedan takes plenty of styling ques from the newest Honda Civic, redesigned for 2006. The 8th-generation Accord has smoother lines that seem to flow seamlessly from front to back. Compared with the new Accord coupe, the sedan is a little higher with a slightly less aggressive stance. The exterior measurements will not change significantly from the previous Accord sedan.

Although Honda will not be offering a hybrid version of their 08' Accord, there is rumor they might offer a very fuel efficient diesel model. The new clean diesel engine, based on the current 2.2 i-CTDi, may be capable of fuel efficiencies in the range of 50-60 mpg, while being just as clean as a typical gasoline engine. The new 2.2 diesel engine was actually showcased at a diesel technology convention in California.

According to Autocar.com, the diesel engine burns clean enough to meet U.S. emission standards by using a catalytic converter to reduces nitrogen oxide output through conversion to ammonia. The ammonia may then be used to further neutralize the remaining NOx material. The new '08 Accord should be available in the U.S. this September.

It's official: the Audi RS 4 Cabriolet will be available in the U.S. as a 2008 model, arriving in the fall, 2007. According to Audi, "approximately 300 of the limited-production RS 4 Cabriolets will be sold in the U.S." The RS 4 Cabriolet will share the same 420 hp engine as the RS 4 sedan, and will only be offered as  a six-speed manual. The Cabriolet will have 19" RS 4-style alloy wheels, a four-link front and trapezoidal- link rear sport-tuned suspension with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), and quattro(R) all-wheel drive with an asymmetrical dynamic torque split. A new $750 titanium package will also be available, which includes titanium colored 19" RS 4- style alloy wheels, black front grille, black side window moldings, black interior headliner, and piano black interior trim.
